- Easy to see which fasteners are stocked and not stocked.
- Help control and number of fasteners we stock.
- Part number will be easy to access in SW.
- This info will flow into work instructions saving time and reducing mistakes.
- Existing Solidworks assemblies will still be able to reference these parts because the file names and configuration names have not changed.
- Will help with BOM building in Vantage.
- Will ensure all smart mates are in place.
- Ensure colour of fasteners is ok.
1. Adding a fastener to a SW assembly will pop up the following box. Notice part numbers and 'stocked' 'not stocked' are shown. Click the part you want and click ok.
2. Or if the part is already in SW. Bring up component properties and select part.
3. If you want to see this detail in your tree like below follow 4.
4. Right click assembly at top of tree and select 'show component configuration description'
- I have applied this to some of the more common fasteners and will work on others when I have a spare mo.
- Will sort parts in fasteners folder that should not be there.
- New stock parts can be asked for though Brad and will be updated in SW if approved.
