Slot mates - new for 2014

 

 

The Slot Mates is a new Mechanical Mate added to SOLIDWORKS 2014.

Mate Option: “Free” constraint
It positions the pin within the slot boundaries. It allows the pin to move in or out of the slot always within the slot’s boundaries.


 
Mate Option: “Center in Slot” constraintIt positions the pin at the slot’s center. The pin only movement is along the pin’s length.












 









Mate Option: “Distance Along Slot” constraintIt positions the pin at the specified distance from either end. The pin only movement is along the pin’s length.
Double clicking on the mate displays the pin’s distance to the specified end.









 








Mate Option: “Percent Along Slot” constraintJust as with the “Distance Along Slot” the user can “Flip Dimension” and position the pin a specified percentage from the other side.


Double clicking on the mate displays the pin’s percentage distance to the specified end.


















Mate Alignment: Just as with other SW mates, this option allows the user to reverse the direction of the pin.

2) Mate between Slot and Hole














3) Mate between Slot to Axis







 






Things that are not supported:
1) Slot Mates with keyholes












2) Slot with drafted faces
