The PropertyManager for the Convert to Sheet Metal command includes the options for Rip Edges Found (Read-Only) and Rip Sketches.  Sometimes it may not be clear what or if anything needs to be selected in these sections.  Often, there is nothing to select; these options are to be used if needed.
A rip in sheet metal is inserted if required by design and manufacturing.  The slit can go along an existing edge or a sketch line. The following examples show three simplified scenarios of the SOLIDWORKS Sheet Metal Rip Options:

Example #1: Rip not required
